In July I spent a few days in a little town called Aspet near the Pyrenees in France. Being in such a peaceful sleepy place was a welcome break from bustling New York City. The weather wasn’t as cooperative as I would have liked but I did get to visit the local farmers market, hike in the Pyrenees and swim in a mountain lake before the rains came pouring down.
Believe it or not the lake was freezing. I wondered why there weren’t many people swimming and found out the hard way. It was definitely worth it though; nothing beats an ice cold lake after climbing up the mountain in 30C heat, followed by a picnic of baguette, salad and cheese.
